The pitch

Most word games punish you for not paying. Snapshots respects your minute.

How it plays

READY. GO. Sixty seconds on the clock.

Each round is one minute. Every correct answer adds ten seconds. Memorise the three images during the show phase, then assemble the word from twelve letter tiles. Streaks multiply your score up to six times.

  1. 01

    See three hints

Three photorealistic images hint at one English (or German, Spanish, French, …) noun. The show phase lasts seven seconds — tap Express Play to skip and bank the leftover as a time bonus.

  2. 02

    Tap twelve letters

Twelve tiles drop. The solution is hidden among them. Tap to build the word, tap a slot to send a letter back. Hint: spend 50 points to fill the next slot for you.

  3. 03

    Stack the streak

Three in a row = 1.5×. Five = 2×. A hundred = 6×. Wrong answer breaks the streak. Clutch saves under three seconds get their own sound.

01 / 06

Streak multiplier ladder

A ten-tier ladder from 1.0× to 6.0×. The jump from 75 to 100 is the longest in the game — and the loudest celebration when you hit it.

Express Play time bonus

Confident you saw enough? Tap Express Play after one second of the show phase. The remaining memorise time gets credited as a time bonus.

Clutch save under three seconds

A correct answer at the buzzer triggers a separate sound, a separate particle burst, and a separate score line. Designed to make the timer feel like a partner, not a punisher.

Offline-first by design

Puzzles, scores and your name live in a local SQLite database. The next ten puzzles are always preloaded with their images. Bad signal? Keep playing.

  2. 02 Multiplier × base score = the points credited for that round.
  3. 03 Correct answer adds 10 seconds to the clock.
  4. 04 Random bonus from streak 2 upward: 30 % chance of +5 points.
  5. 05 Milestones at 50 / 150 / 300 / 500 score: fanfare, particles, no points.
  6. 06 Hint costs 50 points and fills the next slot. Use sparingly.
  7. 07 Wrong answer breaks the streak and shakes the row.

Ten languages

Play in your language. Compete on the same board.

Puzzles are generated in English first, then translated and validated for each target language. If a translation is too long or not a real noun, that puzzle is skipped for that language — only the languages that pass quality checks ship.

Japanese and Korean play the English word set — the letter-tile mechanic doesn't translate to non-Latin scripts. The rest of the app interface is fully localized.

FAQ

Common questions

  • Do I need an account to play?

You pick a player name on first launch. That name is globally unique so it shows up on the leaderboard, but there's no email, no password, no social login.

  • What does "AI-generated" mean here?

GPT-4o picks the English word and translates it. DALL-E 3 paints the three hint images. Each puzzle is verified for correctness before it's served to players. The puzzles you see were generated, not hand-curated.

  • Can I play offline?

Yes. The next ten puzzles plus all their images are preloaded on launch. The app keeps filling the pool to one hundred in the background. If you run out and have no connection, the game ends with a clear offline message instead of a stuck spinner.

  • How is the score calculated?

Remaining seconds on the timer when you submit the word, multiplied by your current streak multiplier. A correct answer also adds 10 seconds to the clock. The first 5 puzzles in a session use a 7-second show phase; after that it tightens to 6 seconds.

  • Is there an Android version?

Snapshots ships on iOS first. The codebase is Flutter, so Android is on the roadmap — not a promise of when.

  • What data do you collect?

The app sends your player name, your scores, and the puzzle IDs you've solved to our backend. No location, no contacts, no advertising identifiers. Read the privacy policy for the full list.
